Loop & Weft was a brand that came across our radar a few years ago. Amongst the hustle and bustle of running the business, it fell through the cracks which is honestly madness. The uniqueness of their knits immediately blew us away, and let us know that this brand was meant for the shop. The brand was founded in 2011 by Ryota Seguchi in Yamanashi, Japan. It's a knitwear brand renowned for its commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and comfort. Drawing on Seguchi’s experience in the Japanese denim industry, the brand was created to offer knitwear that embodies timeless design and unparalleled softness. Loop & Weft’s production process involves the use of vintage knitting machines, including rare Tompkins models, which create one-of-a-kind textures and ensure exceptional durability. With a focus on sustainable and slow production methods, the brand collaborates with skilled Japanese artisans to produce heirloom-quality garments. These pieces combine modern wearability with traditional techniques, earning Loop & Weft a reputation for creating some of the finest knitwear in the world.

This thermal shirt combines vintage inspiration with modern craftsmanship, offering unparalleled comfort and warmth. Made from 100% combed cotton, it features an original double-faced rib knit fabric crafted on rare Wakayama knitting machines, inspired by 1950s designs. The dense knit enhances durability and texture, with a vertical ribbed exterior and a smooth, skin-friendly interior for exceptional heat retention. Thoughtful details, like flat seams, swing-knit ribbed cuffs, a lock-stitched hem, and a tucked kanoko knit collar, pay homage to classic military thermals while ensuring modern wearability. A variance of +/-.5" is within tolerance. 

Fit Notes: Tommy is wearing a size L(40) in this shirt. As you can see from the charts, this brand fits a little smaller than others. The chest is pretty comparable, but it is a ribbed fabric so the overall silhouette may seem tighter. Our expectation is that these will stretch out like all other ribbed fabrics we've carried. These are a little longer than the Smooth Drop Needle pieces. We still recommend sizing up at least once. Tommy is 5'10," 165lbs, with a 40" chest.
